Industry Plastic is a division of Five Star Corrugated Inc, a trusted packaging company that has been around for over 25 years.

Industry Plastic was formed 6 years ago to offer a solution for poor packaging options in the produce industry. The standard was the traditional wood box. It was heavy and bulky, not to mention porous, so water would seep in allowing for mold and bacteria growth. Sometimes the boxes would split, causing damage to produce during transport.

Not long after, the wax-coated corrugated box entered the market and still has a presence today. These boxes come with their own slew of problems such as collapsing, leaking, ripping and an undesirable consistency to the wax coating. Not only that, but due to their mixed material the boxes are not recyclable, so millions of them end up in landfills every year.

The thought of all these boxes going to landfill didn’t sit right with us. It’s not a secret that sustainable alternatives are crucial in order to lower our impact on the planet. At Industry Plastic, we knew that we wanted to create a quality product that could withstand produce packing, shipping and handling—without causing damage to the Earth.

And so, our currogated plastic box was born!
